ServiceNow Discovery Fundamentals course is a combination of course content and lab work. It lays the groundwork for mature infrastructure operations management. Using probes, sensors, and discovery patterns, this ITOM application captures IP‑enabled configuration items (CIs), and maps their relationships and dependencies, in your ServiceNow CMDB.

Curriculum:

  • Understand the big picture of the ServiceNow Discovery solution,
  • Install and configure multiple MID Servers,
  • Understand Credential‑less and Credential‑based Discovery,
  • Configure Discovery to find:
    • Linux and Windows Servers,
    • Network Devices,
    • Applications,
  • Prevent Duplicate CIs with CI Identifiers
  • Create New CI Classes,
  • Extend Horizontal Discovery with custom:
    • Infrastructure Patterns,
    • Application Patterns,
  • Learn common troubleshooting techniques.

Course Addressees

This course is designed for ServiceNow administrators and consultants who need to implement and administer ServiceNow Discovery.

Requirements

  • Certified System Administrator preferred,
  • Successful completion of Codecademy’s JavaScript recommended,
  • Scripting in ServiceNow is highly recommended,
  • System Administrator Certification Exam recommended.

Certification

This course provides a voucher for the CIS Discovery exam.

  • 3 days (8:30am ‑ 5pm, each including 1 hour lunch break)
