Event Management starts with an event generated from a monitoring solution and ends with automated remediation of an infrastructure issue. As a standard piece of the IT Operations Management Suite, this ITOM application is a manager of managers recording events generated in third‑party monitoring systems acted upon as alerts and other tasks, in ServiceNow.

In this 2‑day Event Management Fundamentals course, attendees learn how to enable service‑centric operations management by configuring Event Management and Operational Intelligence in their ServiceNow system.

Curriculum:

  • The capabilities and benefits of Event Management and Operational Intelligence, and how they fit into the ITOM application suite,
  • An overview of Discovery,
  • Navigating key Event Management application components (e.g. Event Management Dashboard, Alert Console),
  • Capturing and recording events in ServiceNow,
  • Generating meaningful alerts from events in ServiceNowCreating actionable tasks, such as incidents, from alerts,
  • Navigating key Operational Intelligence application components (e.g. Insights Explorer, Anomaly Map),
  • Capturing and recording metrics using Operational Intelligence,
  • Creating IT alerts from anomaly alerts generated by Operational Intelligence.

Course Addressees

This course is designed for IT Operations Management personnel and others in a company who work with events and alerts as they pertain to infrastructure equipment.

Requirements

The ServiceNow Foundations eLearning course – six modules that introduce the ServiceNow platform and interface.

Certification

It is recommended to have at least 6 months field experience in ServiceNow deployment projects or ServiceNow instances maintenance, and participation in at least two ServiceNow ITOM deployments specifically for Event Management.
